THE NEW FRONTIER In 1987, Thomas E. Bulleit, Jr., fulfilled a lifelong dream of reviving an old family bourbon recipe by starting the Bulleit Distilling Company. Nose: oh joy this is the reason I love rye. Eucalyptus heating pop pixie sticks vanilla dusty herbs cotton sweets strawberry. A full nose on the off chance that you set aside the effort to look. Taste: cotton sweets (counting the completion it falls directly off) citrus pizzazz home grown zest finishing with messy earth. Experience: strolling through a herb and citrus garden while tasting sweat tea. Sweet and earth notes blend with a home grown undercurrent. Note: this is the great Bulleit rye turned up. On the off chance that you like the base contribution you'll like this more on the off chance that you don't care for the base this won't adjust your perspective. Allow this open to up or return to it subsequent to opening and utilizing the jug from the outset I was baffled by how near the standard rye it is yet following a week or so I found the intricacy that the more youthful sibling needs.

Love the strong rye/oak nose. Predominant. Certainly an agreeable first taste. Smooth long completion. An incentive at $50 value point.

Tasting Notes

Nose

Punchy out of the glass, with heavy baking spices, strawberry cream, mild dill, cocoa powder, and slight hints of grass. It is much more potent than I expected and the depth of the aroma is surprising. It’s an interesting blend of scents that work well together.

Taste

A very grounded array of flavors that’s heavy on oak, brown sugar, spice, and molasses. Some floral, semi-sweet chocolate, and graham cracker notes are also present, but have minor influence on the overall flavor profile.

Finish

This is where the whiskey’s age shows most, as oak dominates resulting in a finish that flirts with a bitter and tannic aftertaste. This is a bit disappointing as the finish is relatively simple and suggests the age did more to harm the whiskey than to enhance it.
